End User Organisation Charter
The FAST - Investors in Software mandate is to promote the efficient management and appropriate licensing of Software by End User Organisations through education and championing best practices in Software Asset Management (SAM). As such FAST – Investors in Software are committed to support End User Organisations by:
- Clarifying and raising the level of awareness, understanding, adoption and professionalism of Software Asset Management.
- Driving the worldwide adoption of best practice for Software Asset Management by working with Software Vendors, Standards organisations and Regulatory bodies to simplify and align where practical the industry’s approach to identifying, distributing and licensing software.
- Encouraging and assisting the adoption of Software Asset Management best practices by End Users through impartial and informed advice, education and knowledge sharing.
- Establishing and facilitating a community of end users interested and focused upon Software Asset Management practices for the purpose of sharing experience, ideas, outcomes and know-how
- Maintaining a public website dedicated to the sharing of current information related to Software License Management and Software Asset Management.
- Making available, or advising upon, tools, processes and practitioners that can assist End Users in their pursuit of best practice SAM
- Treating all information received from, or requested by, End User Organisations in strict confidence at all times.
- Providing confidential guidance on the legal and commercial frameworks related to software licensing to ensure End Users understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Work with the appropriate authorities to protect end users from individuals or organisations that would seek to profit/take advantage through the illegal distribution of software and as a result place End Users at risk.
FAST – Investors in Software will never undertake any Software Audit activity at an End User Organisation unless invited to do so by that End User.
This Charter is established on 8th August 2008 and is valid at all times.
